Tickets go on sale for the 2009 MOBO Awards

Tickets for the hotly-anticipated MOBO Awards 2009 in Glasgow will go on sale on Friday 5th June 2009, it was announced today (Friday 29th May 2009).  The prestigious annual music event will be held on 30th September in the SECC. It is the first time the MOBO Awards Show is being staged outside London in its 13-year history and organisers anticipate that demand for the tickets will be ‘unprecedented’ thanks to the stellar line-up of musicians that is MOBO’s trademark.

In a double vote of confidence for the venue, the SECC has been given exclusivity for a duration of two weeks to handle ticket sales via its new ticketing website –ticketSOUP.com™, which launches on Monday 1st June 2009.

The first wave of tickets to go on sale are priced at £29 and £39, with the second wave being made available later in June at £49.  VIP tables can be ordered now via the mobo.com website.

Cassie Patten to take the plunge in Great Scottish Swim

Cassie Patten, one of the Olympic heroines from Beijing, has signed up to take part in the inaugural Great Scottish Swim.  The 22 year old, who won bronze in the 10k open water swim last summer, was also the winner of the inaugural Great North Swim in Lake Windermere last year.

The Great Scottish Swim makes it debut at Strathclyde Country Park on August 29th and is over a distance of one mile.  Swimmers will be set off in waves of approximately 200 and the event will be televised for broadcast on Channel 4.

Patten is relishing the opportunity to return to the water.  “I really enjoyed taking part in the Great North Swim last year and to be doing all four this year is really exciting. I was delighted to beat my friend and rival Kerri Anne Payne to first place. I’m looking forward to coming to Scotland to compete and I’m sure I will again face top class opposition!”

The Great Scottish Swim has been secured through a partnership between EventScotland and North Lanarkshire Council, and organised by Nova International.
