EventScotland, the national events agency, has awarded £8K to the 3 Harbours Seafood Festival in Prestonpans, Cockenzie and Port Seton. The three day celebration of the fishing community, industry, culture and heritage starts on 28 May and funding will support a marketing campaign to support the wider programme of activity in 2010.
The 3 Harbours Seafood Festival has been developed out of the 3 Harbours Arts Festival which takes place in the same three towns.
Paul Bush OBE, Chief Operating Officer at EventScotland, said: “The 3 Harbours Seafood Festival is a fantastic example of the benefits which can be generated from food festivals and a great demonstration of diversity, having been borne out of the local arts festival. Last year, the inaugural event attracted hundreds of visitors to the region who spent time sampling the local hospitality and cuisine.
“This year, with an expanded programme of activity, the festival will further capitalise on its appeal and promote the region and its attractions to an even wider audience.”
The 3 Harbours Seafood Festival opens with a seafood supper and Ceilidh dance followed by the festival itself which consists of more than 30 stalls with fresh and cooked seafood and seafood related items. There will also be an arts and crafts exhibition and a music hall for entertainment.
