BusinessClub Scotland: Creating Opportunities within Scotland's Event Industry
BusinessClub Scotland is a new initiative to help Scotland’s business community benefit from the country’s ambitious events programme in the run up to the 2014 Commonwealth Games and beyond.
This year, the Scottish Government is investing £5million, through EventScotland, in Scotland’s events industry. In 2009 there was also an additional spend of £5.5million on Homecoming Scotland 2009, an exciting programme of more than 300 events across Scotland to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns.
Supported by the Scottish Government, EventScotland and the country’s leading business organisations, BusinessClub Scotland will create a ‘Team Scotland’ approach to ensure that Scottish companies are supported, engaged and given the chance to maximise the commercial opportunities generated by Scotland’s current and planned investment in major events.
The initiative reflects the Scottish Government’s commitment to ensuring publicly funded activities contribute to greater economic growth for the country.
BusinessClub Scotland will use the experience gained by Scotland’s business community in major events at home to help members’ win further global events support and management contracts abroad.
