Scotland has a strong heritage in Motor Sports and has produced world champions in Jackie Stewart and the late Colin McRae to name but two.

In 2008 EventScotland secured a three year deal to host a stage of the prestigious Intercontinental Rally Challenge from 2009-2011, bringing international level rally back to to Scotland for the first time in over 20 years. Now looking ahead to the 2011 event, it has received international praise and attracted the best drivers on the circuit each year to two of Scotland’s most picturesque constituencies: Stirling and Perth and Kinross.

EventScotland has invested in the development of the Scottish Rally Championship over the past 5 years, including support of the overall series in 2008 and 2009, and support of individual iconic events within the series such as the Jim Clark Rally (2006 and 2009) and the Colin McRae Forest Stages (2005).

EventScotland has also supported the British Touring Cars Championship at Scotland’s National Motor Sport Centre, Knockhill, in 2008 along with the British Superbike Championships in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

EventScotland secured the FIM SPEA Trial World Championship for thee years (2010-2012) in Fort William, which has a long tradition as a mecca for Trials riders. The event not only attracts the top competitors and spectators from around the globe, it also showcases the fantastic natural facilities in the Highlands and supports Fort William’s reputation as the ‘Outdoor Capital of the UK’.

Each of these prestigious Motor Sport events provide invaluable experience and expertise to Scotland’s events industry to ensure we continue to deliver an outstanding events and maintain Scotland’s reputation in motor sports.
