The Scottish Leg of the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay is an exciting milestone on the road to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond to the Commonwealth Games to be held in Scotland in 2014.
The arrival of the Torch on Scottish soil represents a unique opportunity for the people of Scotland to connect with the Olympic flame, one of the enduring symbols of the Olympic Games, and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be part of the biggest sporting event in the world.
Our iconic landscapes, cities and communities will provide the perfect backdrop for the Torch as Scotland is showcased to the World. Scotland’s people will be at the heart of the Torch Relay with inspirational torchbearers, whose stories inspire millions, carrying the Olympic Flame across Scotland.
EventScotland together with Scottish Government, Creative Scotland and Local Authorities make up ‘Team Scotland’, the partnership supporting The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) in the delivery of the Scottish leg of the London 2012 Olympic Games Torch Relay.
Team Scotland will play a key role; devising and implementing a cohesive and coordinated programme of cultural activity which animates the Scottish leg of the Torch Relay; spotlighting Scotland’s rich cultures and diverse communities; maximizing opportunities to gain exposure from the Torch relay and; engaging Scotland’s local communities.
