Scotland's Years of Focus

Scotland’s first year of Homecoming in 2009 was a great success, delivering a string of benefits to the country and bolstering Scottish tourism during a period of economic downturn. Recognising the success of Homecoming 2009 in rallying Scotland around a common theme, a series of strategic focuses running through to 2014 will ensure co-ordinated national activity spotlighting our greatest assets: Food and Drink, our reputation as an active destination, a place of culture and creativity and a place of natural beauty.

HOMECOMING 2014

Scotland will build on the success of Homecoming 2009 and the subsequent strategic focus years by staging a second formal celebration in 2014. Homecoming 2014 will take place in the year that Scotland hosts the Commonwealth Games, The 2014 Ryder Cup and marks the 700th anniversary of the battle of Bannockburn.

Stakeholder engagement

EventScotland hosts a number of stakeholder events designed to bring together representatives from public, private and voluntary sector organisations. On 21 February2011 167 representatives attended the second round of events focused on The Road to 2014. The event bought together stakeholders to discuss and review progress to date and to contribute to the development of the remaining years of focus and Homecoming 2014. HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?

With the First Minister only recently having designated 2014 as our next year of Homecoming, planning is at the very early stages and a team to deliver the year is not yet in place. If you would like to register your interest please do so using the contact details below:
