EventScotland is the lead agency for the delivery of the 2014 Ryder Cup at Gleneagles and planning is well under way to ensure ‘Scotland The Home of Golf’, provides a spectacular stage for an exceptional Ryder Cup matches.
The Gleneagles Hotel in rural Perthshire will provide the setting for what will be the 40th anniversary Ryder Cup and the world’s finest golfers will compete for the iconic prize over the PGA Centenary Course.
This will be the first time in more than 40 years that the prestigious tournament has been played on Scottish soil and it is the first time Scotland has hosted the event in its capacity as the third largest sporting event in the world. When the Ryder Cup was played at Muirfield in 1973, crowds were no bigger than for any other tournament played in Scotland. The 2014 Ryder Cup is expected to attract in excess of 40,000 spectators daily.
